Dischidia platyphylla Solomon Islands IML 0117 D5

Intriguing, shell-shaped foliage in shiny green, displaying impressive shingling behaviour. Grows vigorously in warm environment.

Blooms: Dainty, urn-shaped, buff coloured flowers with tinges of pink / mauve, which grow especially during warmer months.
Sun exposure: Best in bright indirect light to showcase foliage.
Water requirement: Thrives on high levels of humidity. Mist foliage daily. Allow soil to almost dry out before watering. Submerge in container of water until air bubbles dissipate or gently hose. Will not tolerate roots being overly damp.
Maintenance: Low. Repot annually. Half strength doses of liquid fertiliser at the beginning of Spring and Summer.
Special note: WAOL permitted. Keep warm over the cooler months. Close relative to hoya. Often called the ‘Shingle plant.’ In nature this species is an ant hotel, with ants providing nutrition and protection from insects. Roots on this species are often very fine. Order limits apply.

Each living plant is unique and may vary in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available. Plants are sent bare-rooted.
